John Banville’s novels include The Book of Evidence, The Sea, which won the Man Booker Prize 2005, and The Infinities. A new novel, The Blue Guitar, will be published in September. Under the pen-name Benjamin Black he has written a number of crime novels, including Christine Falls and, most recently, Holy Orders. He has won the Franz Kafka Prize, the Austria State Prize for Literature, and the Prince of Asturias Award for Literature 2014.

John Banville will be interviewed by Dr Derek Hand who is Head of the English Department in St. Patrick’s College, Dublin City University. He has published articles on W.B. Yeats, Elizabeth Bowen, Colum McCann, Molly Keane, Benedict Kiely, Mary Lavin, and William Trevor and on contemporary Irish fiction. The Liffey Press published his book John Banville: Exploring Fictions in 2002. He edited a special edition of the Irish University Review on John Banville in 2006.
